The name of the center is "Center for Erhvervshistorie".

The center has been established in cooperation between The Danish National Business Archives and the Department for History and Area Studies and the Department of Economics at the University of Aarhus.

The center has been established for a five years term. The board will arrange an evaluation of the activity of the center in the fifth year in order to make decisions concerning the further existence and activities of the center.

The Center for Business History has to promote and coordinate research, postgraduate education and publishing of danish business History seen in a broad economic, social, political and cultural context with a particular focus on the period from 1850 to the present in an international comparative perspective and at the highest scientific [academic?] level.

The Center is governed by a board consisting of five members. Department of History and Area Studies at the University of Aarhus will appoint two members, The Danish National Business Archives, The Department of Economics at the University of Aarhus and Aarhus Business School will appoint one member each. The board is appointed for a two year term and constitutes itself with a chairman and a vice-chairman. Members of the board can be reappointed.

The chairman is heading the meetings of the board and represents the center in public. In the absence of the chairman the vice-chariman will undertake his duties. The board will decide on its own procedure. It forms a quorum when at least three members are present among them the chairman or in his absence the vice-chairman. Minutes are made of the boards meetings. They will be signed by all participants.

A director is appointed to manage the ordinary business of the center. The board will define his duties and authority in a paper to be accepted by Department of History and Area Studies and Department of Economics, University of Aarhus and The Danish National Business Archives. The director is employed at the University of aarhus and/or The Danish National Business Archives.

The center can estabklish a committee consisting of individuals or representatives of institutions of relevance for the activity of the center.

The center is the place of work for academic and technical/administrative personnel that undertakes research, teaching and related activities in accordance with the purpose of the center.

The staff is employed at one of the Departments of University of Aarhus and/or The Danish National Business Archives and are fulfilling their duties at the center in agreement with their place of employment.

The budget of the center is financed by grants form Department of History and Area Studies and Department of Economics at the University of Aarhus, The Danish National Business Archives and external funding. The administrative handling of the budget is undertaken by the University of Aarhus or The Danish National Business Archives.

Alterations of the by-laws has to be approved by The Danish National Business Archives and the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Aarhus after recommendation from the Department of History and Area Studies and the Department of Economics respectively.

The by-laws are coming into force august the 1^st 2003.
